bold brows

Grab a mirror for just a sec and take a really good look. Are you part of the brow know-how crowd, or could you do with a little instruction? Either way, the first thing to note is this season, it's all about big, bold and beautiful eyebrows.

Forget the skinny minnies and embrace the fuller lines seen on models, starlets and makeup ad campaigns everywhere. Don't know where to start? We've got the essentials plus the low-down on brow colours right here. So you'll be high-brow in no time.

Bourjois brow pencils, Red Earth and Benefit eyebrow kits.

Great firm pencil available in 4 shades, from the lightest blonde to the darkest black. Handy brush on the lid helps to smooth away harsh lines and disguise mistakes! Cute all-round kit (pictured in blonde) for emergency touch-ups. Everything you need in one little package: Wax to fill gaps, powder to smooth, plus tiny tools. Our pick: Sleek black compact (love the large mirror) and the ease of one wax, one powder and you're all set. Pricey - but even the brushes are chic!

M.A.C Brow Set, 1000Hour Lash & Brow Dye Kit and Australis eyebrow pencils.

The perfect addition to your make-up bag if you need to change your brow colour subtly. M.A.C Brow Set is easy to slick on and will stay put all night. Great investment if you spend too much time and money on your brows. Just be careful to choose the right shade because you won't be able to take it off right away! Good cheapie brow pencil avaialable in two shades. A little too soft to allow for complete precision, but it'll do the trick when you need a fast fill-in and brush!

all the essentials...

Manicare safety scissors, E.L.F clear mascara, La-Tweez Illuminating tweezers, ModelCo More Brows.

Once you've got your colour chopice sorted, there are a few more things you need in your brow arsenal. Safety scissors (with rounded edges) are safe for chopping off any long strays, while a clear mascara keeps your brows in place. And of course tweezers for shaping and maintaining (lighted ones are great for touch-ups in dark places), although you should get them professionally done at least once first. And an ingenious little product from ModelCo - More Brows. With fine hair-like particles, it's the ultimate splurge for filling in noticeable gaps. It's dark though, so blondies should steer clear!

I use the Benefit Brow Zings kit & it is fabulous, so much better than a pencil.
