The new Hong Kong Collection by OPI is inspired by the citys fusion of East meets West, an eclectic mix of shades deep oranges, dazzling gold, luscious caramel, sophisticated dark green, white silver, sweet pinks, purples, serene blue and the traditional shade for good luck in China, red.

What? OPI Hong Kong nail polish collection.
When? In stores February 2010.
How much? Individual lacquers RRP $19.95 each.

Those crazy kids at OPI always seem to have a new collection up their sleeves, don't they? This latest set of 12 polishes pays homage to the bright lights and dazzling sites of Hong Kong.

Having never been, I can't comment on whether the shades are representative of modern Hong Kong (but feel free to have at it in the comments with your thoughts!), but I do like the collection as a whole. Very striking, with some obvious standout colours. Here's OPI's run-down on the collection:

Get all Hot & Spicy in a sizzling coral that has kung pao wow! Alternatively balance your yin yang with this serene blue, Suzi Says Feng Shui

Shimmer and glimmer in this char-ming gold, Bling Dynasty. But don’t forget to Meet Me on the Star Ferry, a Kowloon-lit, moonlit violet.

A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find, a zesty red-orange! Indulge in some Dim Sum Plum, a berry shade of delectable lacquer.

Ensure that your future is rich and red, Red My Fortune Cookie. Whilst delving into this warm shade of delicious caramel, Chop-sticking to My Story.

Jade is the New Black, a vibrant jade green. Whilst smart girls choose Pearls of Wisdom, lustrous mother of pearl.

Be pretty and prosperous in this luscious light purple, Lucky Lucky Lavender. You will scream with delight in Panda-monium Pink, an uproarious light pink.

And o get an idea of the inspiration behind the collection, here's the brand's take on things: "Imagine Hong Kong Harbour and the juxtaposition of Chinese junk boats against sleek, glittering skyscrapers. Not dissimilar to the dazzling night clubs and casinos versus the colourful street markets. A combination of old and new, traditional and innovative; defining next season’s fashion and colour trends."
