Every cloud has a silver lining, and now every wrist should have one too! That's right, silver jewellery has overtaken gold as the must-have fashion accessory this season, and the new range from Najo is simply sterling!
Founded by Jo Tory, Najo is one of Australia’s  leading wholesalers of contemporary sterling silver jewellery in Australia, also selling to New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific.  What began as a love affair with Mexico and the traditions of Mexican silver smithing when Jo lived in Mexico in the early 1980’s, has now become a full-time passion to create a unique range of sterling silver jewellery sourced from all over the world.

Consisting of bracelets, rings, necklaces, and lockets, the key trend right now is stacking, especially different coloured metals. Our favourite look is wearing silver and gold together, or polished sterling silver with oxidized sterling silver, for an edgy look.  For that classic look, try pearls stacked with silver in any colour. And the more the better – think rings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces and chains all at once!

“The popularity of silver jewellery is bigger than ever and this season’s way to wear it is definitely stacked,” says Jo. “Bangles and bracelets are huge – stack polished silver with oxidized or beaten, add a big coin bracelet or ball bracelet and throw in some pearls.  Najo has consistently pushed the fashion of big rings and they look great by themselves or stacked with other rings, as do long necklaces and pendants, stacked with short necklaces. Earrings are still big, but we’re also seeing a move to lobe hugging ‘huggie’ style hoops.”

It seems plenty of celebs are getting stacked, with Najo devotees Jennifer Hawkins, Sonia Kruger, Hayley Lewis and the divine Maggie Tabberer spotted wearing the silver jewels.

Silver jewellery is fast gaining popularity in the style stakes. The price of gold has risen over the years, so the affordability of silver jewellery compared with gold jewellery has been significant. Technology in silver jewellery production has also improved, so that we now see a huge increase in fashion pieces, and the combinations of materials, like diamonds with silver or pave cubic zirconias with silver.
